Venice: Marco Polo & the Silk Road (September 2026)

Study Trip Overview

Marco Polo, a 13th-century Venetian merchant and explorer, ignited the European imagination through the description of his travels on the Silk Road.  Discover the Venice of his time when this city state was at the crossroad of trade between the East and the West.  Through workshops, tours and discussions with local historians and other experts, explore how this trade made the Republic of Venice such a wealthy and powerful force in 14th and 15th century Europe.


Lunches and local transportation are included in the Study Trip fee.  Venice is known for the seafood from the lagoon and its abundant local produce.  Various dietary requirements can be met.


2026 Dates:

7 - 10 September (Monday - Thursday)


Daily Schedule:  

10:00 - 13:00          Tour or Workshop/Discussion

13:00 - 15:00          Lunch

Fees

Monday - Thursday 10:00 - 15:00.  Euro 565 per student traveller.  +Euro 485 for repeat student traveller.  Fee includes all admission, workshop/tour, lunch and local transportation charges.

Veneto & Emilia-Romagna: The Harvest (Sept 2026)

Study Trip Overview

The regions of Veneto and Emilia-Romagna have introduced to our tables Italian staples like Prosecco, Tiramisu, Prosciutto, Parmesan Cheese, Porcini Mushrooms, and Balsamic Vinegar.  Met the families who have produced these items for generations and hear their stories.

 

Lunches and local transportation are included in the Study Trip fee.  Various dietary requirements can be met.

11 - 13 September (Friday - Sunday)

10:00 - 13:00          Tour or Workshop/Discussion

13:00 - 15:00          Lunch
