2026 Study Trip Registrations Open

It was during the Joseon period (1392 - 1910) that Korea developed its unique cultural identity. Confucian ideals were promoted by the Joseon kings and became the guiding philosophy for governance and society. Much of modern Korean culture, including the etiquette, societal norms and language, come from this period. Explore the evolution of this Korean culture through talks and workshops led by local historians, artisans and other experts.
Lunches and local transportation are included in the Study Trip fee. Enjoy the bibimbop, bulgogi and other items from the family tables of Korea. Various dietary requirements can be met.

The capital of the ancient kingdom of Silla between the 6th and 10th centuries, Gyeongju was at the centre of the cultural, religious and artistic exchange between Silla and China, Central Asia and Japan. Buddhism, glass and artisanal technics from the Mediterranean entered Korea at this time.
Historically a gateway to Japan, Busan played a critical role as a trading port and diplomatic hub during the Japanese invasion of Joseon in 1592. Revisit this period of history and explore what has become a vibrant port city with markets, street art and cafes.
